From the personals of the Arlington Heights Herald, Arlington Heights, Illinois, dated August 29, 1941:
"Mr. Barney Runge's birthday Aug. 19, was celebrated by a company of thirty-five relatives in his home in N. Dunton [Illinois]."
"Mrs. Fannie Jones of Darien, Wis., writes to a friend in our town that Mr. J. J. Dietrich will be 80 years old Sept. 4. Here's hoping old friends will remember the many kindly deeds of their old neighbors and give him a shower of congratulations Sept. 4."
"Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stoeckel, W. Campbell, celebrated their wedding anniversary Tuesday evening. They have been married fourteen years. Wednesday being brother Kurt Stoeckel's birthday, they made a double celebration. Everyone forgot dull care in their happy comradeship and wishing the two many happy returns."
"Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Watson, former residents of Arlington Heights, now of Three Rivers, Michigan, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 16 (married at Elmhurst, Ill., Aug. 16, 1891). They had with them their three children, Earl Whitney Watson of Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Richard Wilcox of Shaker Heights, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Willard A. Kates of Corning, New York and two grandchildren, John Watson Wilcox and Frances Kates."
